Properties of technical ceramic components ...

Technical ceramics are hard materials and can be classified into 2 categories :

  • The oxides : aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, ...
  • The non-oxides : nitrides, carbides, borides, ...

Technical ceramics allow to satisfy the majority of the problems of wear, resistance to corrosion, resistance to high temperatures, and problems of thermal shocks, due to their exceptional properties in terms of :

  • dimensional stability at high temperatures

  • good electrical insulation

  • dielectrical properties

  • resistance tomechanical wear

  • resistance to chemical attack

  • biocompatibility

  • thermal insulation or thermal conductivity

  • vaccum holding

Due to its specific characteristics, each technical ceramic is an ideal material for a given application.
